Golem by PD Alleva review and giveaway

I want to start by saying that PD Alleva has been kind enough to offer three chances to win a physical copy of his book, Golem, in a giveaway!

Golem is a dark, disturbing, and twisted novel featuring a Golem (of course) but that's one of the things I love about it. The horror genre is full of vampires, ghosts, werewolves, and mummies but you never read about Golems. This means you're getting something fresh and new that has no canon behind it. How do you kill a Golem? Stakes for vampires, silver bullets for werewolves, exorcism for ghosts and demons but, the Golem? We don't really know.

And though this creature looks completely normal on the outside, he's actually quite evil and lives only to serve his master, Baphomet.

This story takes place in the early to mid 1900s and a young rookie police detective is tasked with finding the missing daughter of the Mayor of New York city. His only clues will come from a woman who is locked up in an asylum for the criminally insane. And the story she tells to the detective is unbelievable and fantastical. He doesn't buy it. Yet, as things begin taking place around him, he has to put his logic aside because the fate of his family and perhaps the world are at stake.

The Golem himself, in a human form, is handsome, charming, persuasive, and people are drawn to him. But underneath lurks a vile evil presence that has nothing but blood sacrifice on his mind. This is what Baphomet demands.

The brutal scenes in this book are pure nightmare fuel as children are used not only as sacrifices but also as puppets of this evil. The Golem can insert some of his essence into people and, though not a possession, can manipulate and have them do certain things for his cause. People in high society and in places of influence and power are targeted as this assures his success.

But the question remains... can Golem be stopped? Well, you'll have to read to find out but, believe me, this is a darkly disturbing yet utterly engrossing novel that will stain your brain (in a good horror story way, of course)!
