Melinda West: Monster Gunslinger by KC Grifant Review

I found this book to be a fun read and it features a setting in the wild west, loads of giant man-eating creatures, and an action packed story that keeps you on the edge of your seat.

The western setting is perfect for this novel because the lack of technology means our protagonist has to find other, more inventive, ways to do her job. Melinda West is a bounty hunter, who just happens to take care of a town's monster problem for a fee. Her and her partner find themselves in a battle against giant flying scorpions right off the bat so you know it's going to be a great ride!

Melinda is a badass woman. She's a strong yet sympathetic character who is rough around the edges but is loyal to a fault to those she befriends and loves.

When one such friend has his soul taken away by a supernatural entity, Melinda and her faithful partner have to go through some terrifying situations to track it down before the man dies. Along the way, we'll see frightening monsters and other characters who might or might not have alterior motives.

There's a particular female character who attempts to thwart Melinda's progress every step of the way. We don't know why but this woman seems to have her own agenda and doesn't want to let Melinda anywhere near where the soul is.

As the story progresses, Melinda's quest gets a lot more difficult and a lot more bloody. But the action in this book is nonstop and really gives off those fun wild wild west vibes. And as the duo find themselves closer to their goal, they're going to have to go somewhere and face things that no human has before if they want to succeed.

This is a well written, fast paced, action packed novel with some fantastic monsters and awesome characters. I highly recommend it.
