The Creeper by A M. Shine review

I'm a huge fan of A.M. Shine's book The Watchers. It's one of those books that just gets under your skin. His second novel, The Creeper, raises the stakes and delivers the scares in a way that will have your jaw dropping by the end.

The characters shine (no pun intended) in this novel and you'll be so emotionally involved with them that, by the end, you might wish you hadn't!

Ben and Chloe are just two people chosen to explore a desolate, creepy, and very out of the way village deep in the forest. Taking hours to drive there and even several more hours to actually walk to the actual village, they do so because of the money.

The doctor who hired them is particularly interested in an urban legend attached to this village... The Creeper.

We find out that this village is over 200 years old and only survives because of inbreeding. Every resident is either physically or mentally affected by this.

Needless to say, the legendary Creeper is discussed (but not really in any coherent way), and our protagonists find themselves alone and very vulnerable to... something.

This is one of my favorite horror books of 2022 because once you read about this Creeper, the people in the village, and the doctor who hired them, you'll be wondering if it's real or not. Some parts of the book suggest it's very real while other parts bring doubt about the titular creature.

The ending is brutal and something that definitely came out of left field. I can truly say that this hit me like a baseball bat to my stomach. Rarely does a book affect me this way but this was...well...I still think about it, let's put it that way!

This book deserves all the stars you can give and it will be available on September 15th! Pre-order The Creeper now. CLICK HERE
