This is one of the most disturbing, psychologically terrifying, and twisted books you might read all year. But it's also beautifully written and THAT'S what makes these three tales so impactful.
It's fairly easy to write a horror story with a lot of blood and gore. These stories focus on the psychological instead but still allows your mind to imagine the horrors taking place. And we all know your mind is much worse when left to its own devices rather than being told what to think.
These stories will creep around in your mind long after you've closed the pages and won't let go for a long time.
I had to put the book down after reading the titular story just to be able to process what I'd just read. That's a good thing and it's never happened to me with an anthology before.
These stories deal with loneliness, connections, and our human need for companionship even if making those connections could be detrimental to ourselves or another person.
This author is subtle without being elusive, and I think each reader will take something different from the stories within. I definitely recommend this book.
